If you’re an espresso lover like me, chances are you’re also a fan of iced coffee drinks such as the iced espresso.
If you’re not familiar with the iced espresso, I’ll break it down for you.
Espresso is a concentrated coffee drink composed of roughly 2 parts coffee to 1 part water, which is why it tastes so bitter and strong.
But when you cool the espresso, it becomes less bitter and has a slightly more neutral taste.

What Is An Iced Espresso?
I don’t think I have much to say about iced espresso since it’s basically made up of an espresso + ice cubes… Yep, that’s it!
The iced espresso tastes just like your typical cold coffee drink, the only difference is that you can refrigerate and serve it without having to drink it right away.
Well, I suppose you wouldn’t want to do this since most iced espressos contain a lot of caffeine. But I’ll get to that later.
How To Make Iced Espresso At Home?
Making the perfect espresso at home can be a little tricky if you’re not used to but with some practice, you’ll be able to do it like the pros.

This is the easiest way to make iced espresso, but the taste will depend on the coffee you use.
If you use strong or dark coffee, this might not be the best choice.
Sometimes, when I’m at my studio, for my medium-strength coffees, I usually use an Aeropress since it’s pretty good at extracting temperature which is why I can make iced espressos with it.
But if you want to use your Keurig, you just have to follow the steps I’ve laid out above.

Which Iced Espresso Machine Should You Use?
However, if you already own an espresso machine, you can use either one of them depending on what type of coffee you’re familiar with.
But if you don’t have any of these do not worry, you can always use a stovetop espresso maker, aka the Moka Pot, which is still one of my personal favorite ways to make a good espresso.
Using a Moka Pot to make an espresso for iced espresso is relatively easy.
Just make sure to properly grind your coffee beans or use very good ground coffee and also make sure to tamp it down well so that it extracts all the flavor.

The AeroPress is also a great option for a good cup of espresso.
It can give you that rich, intense coffee flavor with a lot less bitterness.

For a successful espresso, you have to have the best coffee for espresso.
This is a crucial step in the process because it will determine the taste of your iced espresso.
I recommend using coffee beans that are extra-fine ground to give you the best flavor.
It might be overkill for most people but if you’re an espresso lover like me, I highly recommend you get your hands on some good quality coffee beans.
And then grind them super fine for a strong espresso brew, just like we like it!

Iced espresso is usually served cold because the coffee’s temperature should be close to 0 degrees Celsius.
